NEWS FROM NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS

Dear Saints and Friends:

I hope this finds you all coming out of the winter doldrums looking forward to a new year and new experiences! The event calendar is filling up. There’s always more to do than there are hours in the days available. So, please pray and choose wisely as to what God would want you to do this year.

Sorry, the newsletter is late getting out! We have just been on the run for the past month. The good news is, we have a new grandchild! Our son, Matt’s, wife, Christina, gave birth to a baby boy, Samuel, this past week. Every baby child is a miracle, but Samuel, like his namesake in the Bible, was “asked of God”. He is another tribute to the love of God and His never ending attentiveness to us, His children. Samuel is the result of many prayers sent up for him and for his mom and dad. Thanks to all of you who were praying to see this family happen. Never hesitate to ask others to pray, including children! I believe children’s prayers are very special to God. Jesus even made a point when He was here on earth to say “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 19:14) Sometimes its hard to share our needs, but in the end “the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”! (James 5:16)

Our officers meeting was held January 20 and 21st. We had a good attendance and a blessed time together in the Lord. I pray our officers will be able to pass along the enthusiasm expressed at the meeting to their fellow members.

The national rally is practically here again! As always, it will be a blessed and joyous time for everyone who attends as it is always a time of renewal and refreshing. We pray that those who have to travel long distances will be able to find a way, the Lord willing. We’ve got a lot going on in the ministry all across the country. I’m excited about what God is doing. We are still in need of volunteers in some areas for the rally. If you are interested in helping out, please let me know. Any special activity you could offer the children would be a blessing.

We are also excited to have some new chapters forming. Welcome to our newest chapter, Asheville, North Carolina! Please be in prayer for them and for those who are working on building chapters in their areas. Whether you are alone or in a chapter, God can use you. Always be looking for opportunities to spread the good news of Jesus!

As we approach the summer riding season, I encourage you all to remember that it is our desire to reach out to others and be a help to them. We are a ministry, not a riding club. We aren’t interested in controlling any specific territory or city. We desire to reach others with the good news of Jesus. In our enthusiasm to share our faith, we don’t want to offend those people we are desiring to reach. Those of you who came out of the 1%er lifestyle will be fully aware of the do’s and don’ts and issues involved. Be assured, there are issues, and there are do’s and don’ts. If you don’t already know what I am talking about, then it is best you follow the lead of someone who does. That’s the joy of being in a ministry like the Heaven’s Saints. Some things that we do as a ministry may not make sense to you, but once you understand the whys and wherefores, it will make sense. While the Christian flag we wear may not look as appealing as some of those 3 piece back patches you see, it does clearly identify us as a Christian ministry and carries no challenge with it. The clubs recognize this and should respond to us accordingly. Clubs that have been around for a while know who we are and know our agenda isn’t threatening to them.

In recent years, there has been an overwhelming increase in the purchase of motorcycles and, of course, there are many new riders who don’t have a clue how to act around these outlaw clubs and 1%ers. Please remember to show them respect as you should to anyone you meet. Recognize that motorcycling and the lifestyle that goes with it is serious business to them, whether it is to you or not. If you are careless and disrespectful, you may find yourself in a situation way beyond what you are prepared to deal with. Remember that patch members not on their bikes or who are alone, may not be wearing their colors. Always be mindful of what you say when talking to a stranger. We should not be careless with our speech or actions.

From the Vice President’s Desk:

Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ! We had a great officers meeting in January. Plans and decisions were made for our ministry for the upcoming year that will help us to become stronger and more united than ever. I know that God will be doing a great work within the Heaven’s Saints so prepare to work harder than ever for our Lord and to receive His blessings.

Some of our chapters and members have in the past, and are now facing giants that seemed to be undefeatable. Just as God helped David to defeat Goliath, he can and will help us defeat our giants. (1 Samuel 17:45: “Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD…”). We must hold to our faith, take a stand for God in the face of our “giants” and always remember “that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world”.

As you schedule events in your area, please let me know if there is any way I can help out. I will be contacting the chapter presidents in the next few weeks, to touch base and offer support. AROUND THE US AND CANADA

RIDE - BY REY PEREZ

I used to think of God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when I die. He was out there, sort of like a president. I recognized His picture when I saw it, but I didn't really know Him.

But later on when I met Christ, it seemed as though life were rather like a bike, but it was a tandem bike, and I noticed that Christ was in the back helping me ride. I don't know just when it was He suggested we change places, but life has not been the same since I took the back seat to Jesus, My Lord. Christ makes life exciting. When I had control, I thought I knew the way, but it was rather boring, but predictable. It was the shortest distance between two points .

But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts, up mountains, and through rocky places and at breakneck speeds, it was all I could do to hang on! Even though it often looked like madness, He said "Ride!" I was worried and anxious and asked, " Where are you taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer, and I started to learn to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered the adventure. And when I'd say, "I'm scared", He'd lean back and touch my hand. He took me to people with gifts that I needed, gifts of healing, acceptance and joy. They gave me their gifts to take on my journey, our journey, my Lord's and mine. And we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away, they're extra baggage, too much weight." So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I received, and still our burden was light. I did not trust Him, at first, in control of my life, but He knows bike secrets, knows how to make it bend to take sharp corners, jump to clear high rocks, fly to shorten scary passages. And I am learning to shut up and ride in the strangest places, and I'm beginning to enjoy the view and the cool breeze on my face with my delightful constant companion, Christ. And when I'm sure I just can't do any more, He just smiles and says yes, Rey "RIDE" And when I'm sure I just can't do any more, He just smiles and says yes, put your name if you wish RIDE"

Like some of you know I rode to the West Coast this last summer- Read the article if you wish in the Sept. 1, 2005 Heaven Saints news letter. The Lord has directed me to keep you informed of my mission trips because the bottom line is that I can not make it with out your prayers. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. Well it was kind of a surprise for me when the Lord started to show me back in Oct. 2005 two months after I came back from the West Coast trip that He was going to send me right back again to the West Coast in March of 2006. This time to Arizona Bike Week and San Diego, Ca. Departure date March 27 coming back about the third week of April. I can tell you this much this trip in my opinion is one of the most important mission trip that I will ever make. I will be delivering a personal message in a song to a high profile leader in the biker world some where in the West Coast. I'm sorry that I can not give you more details at this time. In this trip I am highly blessed to have the companionship of my brother John Rogers, Heaven Saint from NJ. The Lord laid in his heart and in my heart that this trip is for two. Read Mark 6:7 It is so awesome to us the dream the Lord gave him about this trip. Read Acts 2:17 speaks about old men having dreams in the last days. We qualify for that because were both over the hill..... Ha Ha Ha And this is the dream: We are both riding some where in the high desert in one of those long straight roads and just before it was getting dark, we were ridding towards a beautiful orange red sunset. All of a sudden we look in our mirrors and way way back we see a pack of bikers approaching us at high speed. When they caught up with us, the leader that looks like ZZ Top , long white hair with long white beard and with red flaming eyes. When he is about to pass us he gave us thumbs up and a big smile. Then he and a few other bikers from the pack took the position in front, others to the right side, others to the left side and a few behind us. In other words we were surrounded in that highway doing about 75 miles per hour by a pack of bikers, and here is the beauty of this dream. This pack of bikers were wearing white leather dusters, and all of a sudden one of the bikers that was ridding on our left side had his duster pulled off by the strong wind, and when the duster flew off we saw two big white wings. Think about it. To us this is a awesome confirmation that this trip has a very very special mission.

Phenix City, AL/Columbus, GA Chapter:

I recently came across a poem titled ‘When you thought I wasn’t Looking’. The poem is about a child looking at parent when the parent doesn’t know they’re looking, and the life lessons the child learns by looking when the parent isn’t aware they’re looking. Two of the lines in the poem are - “When you thought I wasn’t looking, I heard you say a prayer, and I believed there is a God I could always talk to”, and “When you thought I wasn’t looking, I looked and wanted to say thanks for all things I saw when you thought I wasn’t looking”.

During our chapter’s last meeting, the word UNITY kept coming up and we were reminded that when we are traveling to and from, and while participating in community events, we must always have UNITY. The individuals we all hope to be able to witness to, either through our words or through our service, are always looking and if we don’t show UNITY, they will see it. We constantly are reminded, that people are always watching, but somehow the title ‘When you thought I wasn’t looking’ brings the message a little closer to home.

What lessons are you teaching by your behavior when you think someone isn’t looking?

Patty J. wrote ‘Watch Your Witness’ a few months back, and this poem confirms the necessity of that. The author of the poem is unknown, and I have taken the privilege of modifying a few of the lines to apply to us:

When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you feed a homeless person, and I thought it was good to be kind to those less fortunate - When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you give a love offering anonymously and I knew that the little things are special things - When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that it’s all right to cry - When you thought I wasn’t looking, I saw you pray for someone in need and I learned that there are those who care about others - When you thought I wasn’t looking, I looked, and I saw the love of Jesus in everything you do. Tampa Bay, FL Chapter:

A Heart to Ponder—This was written with Valentine's Day on the horizon , which is supposed to be the most romantic, loving, give your heart to someone day of the year. We give our loved ones a little extra hug, kiss or term of endearment on this day, it just seems like the thing to do. Aside from the fact that these are things we should be doing everyday with our families and spouses, Hallmark and jewelry store ads makes February 14th kind of hard to ignore. We are reminded that in the Bible the Lord tells us in several verses and books that LOVE should be something that we Need to give out each and everyday of the year, not pick and choose which ones best suit the industry.

With all of the crazy things going on in the world we have to realize that we are all here for only a season and we have to make each and everyday be the best it can be. In 1 Cor 13, (we all know this by heart) it states that LOVE is patient, kind, never boastful, does not envy, is not proud, does not delight in evil, LOVE NEVER FAILS!!!! Out of faith, hope and love the Lord deems LOVE the most important. There are over 697 references to Love in the Bible, so the Lord must have thought it really important and really wanted us to "GET IT." So as we go into the Hallmarks, jewelry stores, book stores and flower shops, remember that love doesn't stop because February 14th has come and gone. Show Love to your spouse, family, those around you, it may become contagious and it might make someone's day.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,19and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Windsor, Ontario Chapter:

Hello Saints and Happy New Year! Praise God for a great year and new challenges to come our way! Not much going on up here in the North, we held our annual Open House on New Years Day. Was a great day! We had lots of visitors such as friends, family, acquaintances and members from a local motorcycle club. Of course leave it up to a few choice Saints to teach everyone the game of "Bumper Pool". Next year I think these guys will go into some type of tournament maybe!!!!..(laughs quietly). Some of us are getting the "Winter Blues" so in turn we have turned our savings into new bike parts, (just so we can be near our precious machines) and others have stripped their bikes down and are now in a panic. Needless to say, in the next two months some of us will be really busy trying to get ready for spring (which is right around the corner I may add). We have made a few changes to our website along with adding a link for Events. Some of the dates will change and new ones added along the way. We are in the midst of organizing a Teen Outreach Event to be held in Windsor, the event is still in it's early stages and we are allowing the Lord to guide us through this one. (Pssst...Hey CJ if you are in the area for coffee or such around Aug. 19 can you speak at our event....hehehe) Our calendar for 2006 is filling up quickly but we are all looking forward to the work the Lord has planned for us. The following short poem was written by one of our members, Margo Beaulieu, and was read to me at a time when I needed to hear it.

THE POWER OF A SMILE

A smile can disarm a bitter heart by it’s sincerity, beauty and purity.

It can reassure an adult or child in distress or in times of doubt.

Rodney Gross, Virginia State Rep.:

Thank you JESUS for all you do!!!! The last months have been great. A lot going on. Had a great time at the officers meeting as always. Got to see old friends and meet new ones. I am glad we are always moving forward. Had our first show of the year and it went very well. It was in a town where there was never a show. We talked to a lot of people and got to share what GOD is doing in our lives. We shared the booth with the Soul Winning Solders M/M. Got to meet one of our soon to be newest members, Steve Bagwell. He is on fire for the LORD. I look forward to working and fellowshipping with him. GOD IS GOOD!! Looks like Daytona is just around the corner and our second show of the year is on March 17th 18th 19th , The Cycle Expo. It's the biggest show around here. We had over 5,000 people last year on Saturday alone. Please keep us in your prayers that we will show the love of JESUS there and that seeds will be planted and souls saved. Also, please keep Rey Perez and Pastor John Rogers in your prayers as they make their trip (see Rey’s message on page 3) I love Rey and am glad to have him here with me in Virginia. I know in my heart that Rey's mail will get delivered and we will see much fruit from it. IN JESUS NAME AMEN! Ok back to things going on in April we have Mcguire poker run on April 22 , Virginia bike fest on April 30th. And we have our ROC Biker Fest on May 6th, put on by the Heaven's Saints M/M and The Soul Winning Soldiers. There are so many things going on in April and May. If you want to know about them call or email me as it looks like every week has something going on. As we go on these runs, please wear your colors and show everyone the love of JESUS.
